My games enjoy crashing a few times or so a year. Sometimes, it's because of suspect content. That's a PITA to find the culprit, but eventually, I do. (That accounted for many of my crashes in the beginning, but it's happening much less frequently now for that reason, since I've downloaded a paltry amount over the last six months. Than install graphics drivers. They are a monumental pain in the ass. I had to do it on my other machine yesterday. My game on that started doing some sort of weird graphics glitchy thing, and I realized that I hadn't updated Direct X or drivers in a while. I added the Direct X update, uninstalled the old graphics drivers, added the new ones, restarted the game ... and it crashed on the first house I tested. Instead of purty rainbow ribbons, though, which has happened to me in the past,...

While taking my machine to get the MoBo problem fixed, my husband brought along our first computer. We bought it back in 1998. The thing lasted until around 2002, when it just died one day. The techie told us at the time that the hard drive was damaged, but he could perhaps save some data ... for a fee, of course. And not $20.

We declined then, but our curiosity won out this year. Could the hard drive actually be saved, and if so, what was on it? We actually forgot, but with time,...

Time to replace my desktop, and as my expences are due in a few weeks figured now was the time to look around. I have a mate who has offered to build one for me but I was wondering what chips people had and what they found good with them.
