Sorry. Scott, please stop sending me emails asking why I haven't blogged, and try, y'know, answering said emails? But here you go. I promised to post, so post I shall. And before 4pm on the Saturday, so you owe me $20, bucko. Pay up. So, let's see. What have I been up to? Well... oh. Good news. Just came back from a talent show at my daughter's school, which my daughter was in, and in which she took second, and first. I've mentioned her f'ing freaky music ability before, right? Yeah. She doesn't seem to be growing out of that. And now she's done, she's off to her dad's with the rest of the kids, so I actually do have the rest of my weekend to myself. Whee. Maybe I'll get some writing done. Or the housework. Or just eat grilled cheese. Unless my eldest decides to pop by for a visit, then I might send him out for actual food. Maybe I should go out for actual food. What else? Went back to school. Um, didn't fall in love, although Wentworth, if you are reading this, I'm completely open to the concept... whispers Call me. Lessee. My TV broke. My kids have been watching DvDs on my laptop. I want my laptop back, but I think I set a dangerous precedent letting them use to start with. See, now they think it's theirs. See, this is why I stopped blogging. Once the divorce was done with, there was nothing left to whinge about. Yeah. He's still pretty much an arse, if anyone was wondering. At least now he's more passive aggressive about it. :-D So... I guess now I've done my duty and won my $20 I can sign off. Bye. Guess I'll post again in 6 months. I can tell you now, that if I get into trouble, I have one friend who is going to be in so much crapo-doodoo that he won't be able to eat for a year without a feeding tube. Right. I have a friend in the army. He's stationed here in Brissy and is partially who my sim Adam is based on. So, I'll call him Adam (because his name isn't, in fact, Adam). He just called me. I'm not really sure exactly why he would call me, of all people, but there you go. Maybe because he knows that I am guillable enough to believe what he says, but anyhoo... Gist of the phone call? "Hi [Beth] (cos you know this isn't my real name too, right? Good)." "Hi," says I, "how are--" "I don't have time for that. I have to warn oyu." "Oookay," I say, almost amused, "about what?" "I can't tell you. But--tell as many people as you can. Lock yourself in. ASAP." "But why--?" "It's important. Barricade your damned door. And just spread the word, okay? You're on the net and I don't have time." click See, yeah. Feel free to laugh. But there was something... perhaps his tone of voice, given that Adam isn't prone to idiocy or panicky stuff? 24-Aug-08 00:06:27 High Priestess of Fluffy the Purple Unicorn ~ Naughty, but not trashy	I was only kidding!! Sat, 23 Aug, 6.33pm Gods. I'm going to have to apologise to the deputy, too. Five minutes ago, I actually saw a... shit. Okay. I'll just come out with it. I saw a zombie shot down in the street near the railway station by one of the guards there. Just as well he was armed. Most of us aren't. Yeah. I know, I write spec fic novels. But, poeple, I write epic fantasy and timeslip, not horror, so just take it as read that I am not trying to be funny here. Mind you, I guess if you're reading this from anywhere near me, you actually are already aware of what is going on and don't think I'm a nut. My next-door neighbours and I have decided to team up, so we have 4 of us in the one house, mine, as it turns out since my place is a Queenslander--one floor up off the ground and we can get rid of the steps pretty easily. So, there's me, my neighbour from one side, Patty, and my neighbours from the other side, Val and Fred (yes, I have changed their names). Patty tells me that there has been news trickling in from other countries. Thsi is obviously not isolated... but we soon will be. No one knows, yet, what has caused this or really, who they are. Zombies? No one really thinks so. Possibly people with some horrible disease. I have my doubts... Haven't been able to get ahold of my ex and the kids. Hope they're okay...gods. Hope my eldest is okay. He was in the city this weekend... and I can hear the sirens in there from here. But the weirdest thing? The trains have stopped. Funny how that's what I'm noticing. So far, not too freaked out. Can't be. Too busy. Will try to post later, depending on what happens. It'll be dark in about a half hour...

Sat, 23 Aug, 8.45pm Yeah, I know it's been a couple of hours since my last post, but there's been things to do, places to go, people to see.... well, things to do, anyway. First of all, I finally managed to get through to my ex on the mobile. He's about 20 minutes north of me and reckons there's nothing up there: the "disturbance" (as they're calling it on the Australian media) is focussed in Brisbane only. No one's sure why, given news agencies from the US are claiming country-wide problems. Troops are being sent from Sydney. Maybe they like the weather here? Damn. I hope Adam's okay. They've drawn an evacuation circle north of Chermside and people have been told to leave, in an orderly fashion. Apparently the police are doing that while the army's in the city... which means the area I'm in... we're on our own. No leaving, no help. I told him to take the kids up the coast to my mother's, and to tell them I'd join them when I could. At least that's 5 of my kids out of harm's way. No idea where the eldest is, he never answers his phone anyway. Patty's daughter is already with her grandparents, so Patty's a bit calmer than she would be otherwise. Great girl, bit prone to panic. I hope D & N are okay across the river. I have a feeling their suburb is also within the circle. All is quiet here, but we can hear the noise in the city. Gunfire... keeping the house dark just expands sound, y'know. Fred and I removed the front stairs and have blocked the back with the fridge... power is still on. Seems whatever these things are, they're not interested in the destruction of infrastructure. In fact, the reason why the power's out in the city probably has more to do with strafing by the F18s than the "disturbance". Val was wondering about weapons and I was too, until I remembered... duh. I did western martial arts for over a year--I have three swords in the house. Okay, they're blunt. Fred and Val, however, own an angle grinder, so now... they're sharp. Damned sharp. I'll have to visit the other blogs to see how things are o/s but I'm not sure if I'll have time, so if you read this guys, don't take it personally. Probably means I'm kinda busy.

Fred brought their TV over in the hope we could pick up a station, but the transmitter is in Brisbane city, so no station reception. He's trying to see now if he can't pick up the ABC from the Sunshine Coast. I have an aerial, so maybe. I don't want him up on the roof trying to boost it. Mind you, that's juts reminded me that we have a large ladder stored under the house. I don't know if these things can use one, but I'll get Fred to bring it inside, just in case. If nothing else, it means we'll be able to get into the roof space if we have to. We can hear screaming now, from far off. Poor Patty is holding it together, but she's pushing it. They're getting closer. I'm not sure where that lone "zombie" from earlier came from, but where there was one, others can't be too far behind. I think my kids'll be okay, so long as they get up to the SC. My mother's hubby is pretty good at holding things together. My second son is a self-procaalimed zombie expert, so even if they come up against anything... I dunno. The ex tends to fall apart in emergencies. Am really worried about # 1 son. But am on edge, although I try not to show it, cos Patty... it's the waiting...
