It's October (well d'uh) and fast approaching Halloween, the time when most folks like to share their own favourite ghost stories.
Well.... let me enlighten you on one in particular, especially if you're the type of person who doesn't believe in ghosts, entities, energies etc.
Where I work, it used to be a late 19th century manor house, now converted into an old folks' home. So naturally, when they finally 'pass across' into their winter years, there's bound to be some sort of energy field there briefly. But wait...... I'm wandering here. Getting directly to the point.... we have our very own haunted house. Complete with a ghost/entity/energy that is both a prankster and an attention seeker.
And how do I know this?
Well, I had the pleasure of experiencing first hand, exactly what this entity can do.
Today.
We have a new cook, who was being oriented around the building, just as I was going for my break. And we paused between the attic door and Room 22. I explained that the attic is 'supposedly' haunted, but have never had the privilege of encountering this entity. Two hours later, whilst I was upstairs, cleaning, I opened the door to Room 22 and put my hand on the light switch to turn it on (we have a call assistance system running through the entire building, it's used when someone needs something)
.........aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnndddd.......
.....well, bugger me, if the damned thing didn't go off. There and then, in that room!!!! There was nobody else there, just me. I couldn't trigger it off myself as I'd have had to walk around a bed to get to the control box, and I was dragging my cleaning trolley with me at the time.
I know what you're going to say. It's the wiring. Nope. It's been checked out several times and no fault has been detected. Also, this activity has been going on now, for months, getting more and more regular. It's seriously freaking out all the staff....
... except for me.
I just stood there and said... I don't freaking believe this....
Guess she (yep, I've decided that this entity is a she), just wanted to get her point across that she DOES exist.
Oh by the way, the house does have it's own history, with a cruel mistress and the death of a servant girl in the attic, from a fire.
