... or something like that, I tried some Vegemite that an Australian acquaintance bought for us.
It reminded me of what could happen if you attempted to make a vegetarian version of anchovies. It's pretty salty! Good thing I don't mind anchovies.
I didn't mind it so much, and the second time I tried it, found that if you spread it THINLY on crackers, it's not bad (I glopped the first batch). However .... errrr .... I don't think I'd spread it an inch thick on a bagel. It doesn't quite take the place of chive cream cheese and lox.
